Protecting Your Hair When Cruising

Driving your convertible around the coastline road during summer is truly a joy. The only problem is that your hair does not share the same great feeling as you. The salt water, summer sunshine, and the wind can do untold damage to your hair. Here are some tips which would help you prevent dry and damaged hair while you enjoy your summer cruise.

When you shower before leaving the house, wash your hair gently with a mild shampoo. Since wet hair is vulnerable, do not scrub or twist your hair when you shampoo. Instead, give it gentle massage using your fingertips. After washing, apply a mild conditioner with a high sun protection factor (SPF). Moisturise your hair by giving it a hot oil treatment at least once a week. Hot oil treatments soften and add shine to your hair. It also prevents split ends from occurring.

When driving, protect your hair from the sun by wearing a hat. If you find a hat too bulky, you can use a baseball cap; just be sure to tuck your hair underneath the cap. You can also use a scarf in lieu of a cap. Of course, you do not want your beautiful hair to be hidden all the time, so wrap it in a bun. By doing so, you decrease the hair area that is exposed to the sun and wind. If you want to drive with your hair down and untied, it would be best to have your hair coloured with a darker shade, the colour acting as a "sunglass" for your hair. Finally, do not stay under the sun for long. Drive on the shady part of the road, or engage your convertible's roof after half an hour of driving.
